Below stand is a gravel road, then a zone of floodplain forest down to river (reservoir). River is flowing, not backed up. Upstream bottoms are mowed for camping and wildlife management.;Lower slope, warm aspect on calcareous shale. Substrate is crumbly shale. Community is a mostly deciduous forest or woodland dominated by young and/or stunted chinquapin oaks with shagbark hickory, red oak, ash, sugar maple, and juniper. There is a canopy gap in plot which probably increases herb cover and diversity (including weeds).
Representativeness
Small patch, linear zone calcareous oak forest. Late season sampling date probably misses some herbs, but picks others that would be missed earlier.
